Business owners everywhere are feeling the pinch.
Lead flow has slowed, sales cycles have lengthened and organic social media reach has dropped dramatically. As an entrepreneur, you may feel forced to spend money on ads just to reach followers who once saw their posts for free. Or you might be unsure which platforms to focus on, or simply feel overwhelmed by the constant need to create content.
Despite all these challenges, the businesses that are winning today have one thing in common. They have mastered the art of being seen. As marketing expert John Lee explained from the stage at the November 2025 Business Blueprint Conference, the modern marketplace rewards visibility above all else.
You can have an excellent product or service, but “the best known beats the best”.
John has built multiple global brands and a social media audience of millions. He shared practical strategies any business can use to grow faster without spending more on marketing. These simple, free tactics can help you tap into much larger audiences and convert more of them into buyers.
Let’s unpack the first part of his approach.
Being Visible Matters More Than Ever
Consumer behaviour has changed dramatically.
People now spend an average of 3.5 hours a day scrolling through social media. That means your prospects are already online, consuming content. The question is: are they consuming yours?
Being visible is no longer optional. If people do not see you, they forget you exist. And if they forget you exist, they buy from someone else.
Stop thinking of social media like a consumer and recognise it as a megaphone that allows people to understand who you are, what you do and how you can help them.
The more you show up, the more opportunities you create!
To illustrate this, John explained a simple equation:
“Awareness multiplied by attention equals income.”
When more people see your content and engage with it, revenue naturally grows.
Know Your Market And Tailor Your Message
You still need to create the right message for the right audience. Different generations and demographics respond to various angles, problems and desires.
For example, promotions targeted at Baby Boomers often centre around retirement or releasing equity. At the same time, messages aimed at Gen Z may focus on escaping debt, building independence or finding flexible ways to earn. The product stays the same, but the message must evolve if you want your content to cut through.
Before you start posting like crazy on social, identify your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) and understand their pain points. Once you know what your audience struggles with, you can create content that speaks directly to their concerns and positions your solution as the answer.
Use Reels To Reach A Massive New Audience
The most significant opportunity in organic social media right now comes from short-form vertical videos. Regardless of how many followers you have, Reels can reach people who have never seen your content before.
Accounts with only a few hundred thousand followers can reach 60 million people with a single piece of content. This happens because reels are pushed to non-followers when the algorithm detects strong engagement within the first few seconds.
To take advantage of this:
- Post short, 30–60 second videos
- Use a strong hook in the first three seconds
- Keep videos simple and focused on one idea
- Create content that makes people watch more than once
Reels also allow you to demonstrate your expertise without being on camera. You can film your work, your process, your products or the results you create. John showed examples from businesses such as window cleaners, lawnmowers and yoga studios that grew using nothing but simple behind-the-scenes clips.
Document, Don’t Just Creating
For many entrepreneurs, the most significant mental barrier is the belief that they must produce polished, high-end videos.
The reality is that simple documentation gives you a considerable advantage. All you have to do is film what you already do. Show snippets of client work, small wins, problem-solving moments, quick tips or common questions. Documentation is easier, faster and much more authentic, making it perfect for consistent posting.
Use AI To Accelerate Content And Reach
AI tools can save time and multiply output. From generating content ideas to analysing viral posts, creating guides, producing scripts, and even building personalised follow-up systems, AI now allows small businesses to operate with the efficiency of large marketing teams.
While Part 2 of this series dives deeper into John’s AI strategies, his message was clear: if you can automate parts of your marketing, you free up time to focus on the activities that grow the business.
This is just the beginning. In Part 2, we’ll look at how to convert this new attention into leads, how to automate follow-up, and how to use AI to scale your influence even faster.
