Amy Wilkins
Amy Wilkins was born in Sydney in 1981 to parents Joy and Geoff. Arriving in the world eight weeks premature, clearly she couldn’t wait to get started!
As a very active child Amy found an outlet in sport and participated in everything she could.
After she finished school, Amy decided to make a career out of her passion so she enrolled in a Bachelors Degree in Human Movement at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Whilst at university, Amy developed a children’s fitness program for a local leisure centre where she met Scott Ehler. With a synergistic drive to succeed, and a strong desire to help curb the growing trend toward childhood obesity, Amy and Scott established Active Kidz.
Today, Active Kidz is an international television program, screening in Australia, New Zealand and on the Disney Channel in Asia. Amy and Scott are award winning music writers (APRA-AGSC Best Music for Children’s Television), and business owners (Australia Post Small Business Awards Young Achievers).
Amy has also been awarded Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Champion of Champions business awards) and has been a Telstra Business Women’s Awards Finalist in the Young Business Women’s category. She is a regular editorial contributor to many magazines and newspapers and has been featured on TV programs such as Sunrise, Today Show, Sarvo, Hot Source, Agony Aunts and Saturday Disney.
As the co-director of Active Star Productions, Amy is now producing the new series of Active Kidz TV, developing health and fitness DVDs, creating the Active Kidz merchandise and is publishing a coffee table book.
Outside of her passion for kids and fitness, Amy loves reading, cooking, painting and spending time with her beautiful Labrador dog, Sascha. Also, having recently purchased a home with her fiancé, she is busy renovating and is trying to organise her wedding.
