3 Words That Could Kill Your Business Productivity

There is a saying that goes, “Words have power. Use them wisely.” And I believe this is true because what you say affects who you become. Words have the power to change you.

In this video, I will teach you the 3 biggest words that you should avoid saying because they could potentially kill business productivity. I’ll also share the alternative words that you can use instead.

The Impact of Words

Over the last ten years, I’ve worked with tens of thousands of business owners. I’ve had lots of conversations with really successful business owners and a lot of unsuccessful business owners as well. I’ve begun to see that the success they achieved or the lack of it had a lot to do with the words they used to describe their feelings or emotions.

Three words that a lot of unsuccessful business owners use are things like I’m feeling overwhelmed, I’m really busy, or I’m really frustrated.

Overwhelmed

I get that business can be overwhelming, busy and frustrating at times but if you keep saying them to yourself, over and over again, it’s not helping you. You’re just aggravating the problem rather than moving towards the solution.

So instead of saying to yourself “I’m feeling overwhelmed, overwhelmed, overwhelmed,” you can use these words instead: “I’m looking for clarity.”

Whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed, even though I might be feeling that way, I won’t say it. Instead, I’d say I’m looking for clarity right now. This is what’s going to help you move beyond that negative state to a more desirable state.

Busy

I love the word busy because it’s become such a badge of honour in our society. It’s like we feel pride in telling people how busy we are because for some people how busy means successful. Busy and successful are two words that should not actually be linked.

Rather than saying “I’m busy” because that’s really not something to be proud of, you should say “I need to get better at delegating.” If you keep saying you’re busy all the time, you’re just going to get busier than ever. But if you get better at delegating then you’ll be able to do something positive about that negative situation.

Frustrated

I get it. I know business can be really frustrating. However, rather than saying “I’m frustrated, I’m frustrated,” instead use these particular words: “I need to better manage my expectations. \
The imbalance between what you really want and current results that you’re achieving is what causes frustration. To remove this frustration, you need to change and modify your expectations. It’s only when you learn to do this that you’ll be less frustrated and more focused on achieving your goals.
